Uno de los edificio más bonitos de la ciudad de Valencia.

Actualmente se nos hace extraño pensar que existía una ciudad sin Mercado Central, ya que el edificio fue construido en 1914 (el próximo año cumple un siglo)

El mercado como concepto ha existido desde la Valencia árabe, realizándose en las propias calles de la ciudad. A lo largo de la historia, con el crecimiento del mismo,  se ha ido situando en varios lugares de la ciudad desde la zona de extramuros hasta la proximidad de la Lonja. A finales del siglo XIX se crea un concurso para ubicar el mercado en un recinto protegido del que sale, tras dos convocatorias, el actual Mercado Central de Valencia.

Productos de campos próximos o de tierras lejanas han llenado todos los puestos del mercado ofreciendo al comprador una gran variedad de productos de gran calidad.

Frutas, carnes, pescados, artesanía,.. casi todo tiene cabida en él, es un placer recorrer sus calles e ir descubriendo la mezcla de olores, colores, texturas de cada comercio.

Es más que aconsejable una visita, comprar una naranja o un puñado de dátiles y disfrutarlo mientras paseas por él.

It is so strange to think about the city without the market, but the actual was built in 1914 (one century ago the next year)

The market as concept has been existed from the arabs, stablished in the streets of the city. Alongside the history of Valencia the market has grew up and has been suited in different areas, from extramuros (outside city walls) till the area near to the Lonja de la Seda (silk exchange). A contest for a new building in the XX century had as result the actual Central Market.

Products in nearby fields or from distant lands fill up all the market stalls offering to the costumers a variety of high quality products.

Fruits, meats, fish, handicrafts, .. almost everything has a place in it , It’s a pleasure to walk along its streets and to discover the mixture of smells, colors, textures of each stall.

It is more than advisable to buy an orange or a handful of dates and enjoy them while you are going for a walk through the market .

Para moverse por la ciudad: Valencia Tourist Card

Lo primero para sentirse a gusto en una ciudad es conocerla.

Valencia es una ciudad lo suficientemente grande y variada en ofertas, como para que realizar ese reconocimiento por nuestra cuenta sea muy costoso en tiempo y medios. Para los mas impacientes, aquellos que nos gusta reconocer el terreno lo primero, para después poder disfrutar de aquellos lugares que nos han encantado, existen lo que considero «Opciones Express», haciéndonos pasar por simples turistas.

En Valencia la oficina de turismo intenta facilitar medios e ideas para que nos cueste menos conocer todos los lugares emblemáticos de esta ciudad, aunque como oficina de turismo, calculan que nuestras estancias nunca superaran los 3 días.

¿Conocéis la Valencia Tourist CARD?

Es una tarjeta turística de duración limitada (uno, dos o tres días) para viajar en el autobús, metro y tranvía, entrar gratis a los museos y monumentos municipales y obtener precios especiales en algunas tiendas, restaurantes, ocio y servicios turísticos (alquiler de bicicletas, recorridos turísticos,…)
Cubre la zona metropolitana y permite realizar el desplazamiento desde el Aeropuerto hasta la ciudad en Metro.

Para grupos o familias, existen opciones especiales mas económicas.

The first to feel comfortable in a city is to know it.

Valencia is so large with a huge and varied offer that to make its recognition by ourselves is so hard in time and resources. For the more eager, the ones, as us, that wants to know the city in first time, and then enjoy those places we’ve loved, there are what we call «Express Choice», acting as tourist instead a dweller.

In Valencia the tourist office provide all the materials to make easier to know all the city landmarks, but as tourism office, estimate that our stays never exceed three days.

Do You know the Valencia Tourist Card?

A tourist card, limited in duration (one, two or three days) to ride  by bus, metro and tram, free admission to museums and monuments municipal and get special rates at some shops, restaurants, leisure and tourism services (Bicycle rentals, tours, …)
It covers all the metropolitan area and allows travel from the airport to the city by Metro.

For groups or families there are special options most cheaper.
